Jingers Jaunts

The rally operation is Jingers Jaunts (NZ) Ltd and is headed by Tim 'Jingers' Riley who has immense experience in this kind of challenge. His association with motorsport begins in the 1920s with grandfather, Tommy Wisdom (who took part in 39 Monte-Carlo rallies) and grandmother, 'Bill' Wisdom (who held the women's lap record at Brooklands). A generation later his parents were both heavily involved in racing and rallying, and met when driving for the works BMC team; father Peter Riley, came from the Ford team to drive Healeys, whilst mother Ann Wisdom was co-driver for Pat Moss. Hence, doomed to have Castrol R coursing through his veins from the outset, Tim has inevitably followed a career in motorsport.

Over the last two decades he has provided mechanical support and route planning for many major events across the globe. Whether it is rallying in Europe, crossing the Himalayas, the Atlas Mountains of Ethiopia, Argentina's vast Pampa, the High Andes or scorching Australian Outback, Jingers has seen almost every mechanical scenario. His engineering knowledge and experience is renowned.

"Following on from our successful first Jaunt in NZ in 2010 and from customer feedback, I have decided to initiate a further tour of the Antipodes; this time to Australia. Using the same format as proved successful in New Zealand; It will be a touring event without timing constraints to enable our clientele to savour the REAL Australia. The event will encompass a diverse mixture of 'must-see' highlights, known throughout the world, also including a wonderful 'off the beaten track' element to satisfy the more inquisitive traveller. However, please be aware Australia is VAST - in capital letters." - Jingers.

Born in Buenos Aires, Argentina, Valeria (Lally) Houtman moved to New Zealand, where she has joined the Jingers Jaunts team. Her work in the Argentinean travel industry over the last 12 years has given her a solid background and much experience in providing top-class hospitality. She is very service-oriented and passionate about meeting all her customers' needs. Please count on Lally to take care of your accommodation and tour bookings, as well as any other travel arrangements that you might have, while you explore Australia and its natural wonders.

Sandra Appleby, a cartographer, who has travelled extensively throughout the world by foot, bicycle and 4x4 assists with the compilation of maps and roadbooks.

Jingers, Lally and Sandra have together devised a unique itinerary, encompassing many of the finest sights of Australia, that will guarantee you a truly unforgettable experience.

A support team following your route will include at least one event doctor-a qualified and experienced medical practitioner to attend to your health on the road or for less urgent demands at a daily evening surgery. He will travel with a qualified and experienced classic car mechanic, carrying tools and equipment to effect roadside repairs, or alternatively shepherding you or your ailing car to civilization. The support team will be tailor-made to the number of participants and may expand to include more cover for both medical and mechanical scenarios.
